If you have any of the following, we need to talk!

  • Underground Oil Tanks — they will need to be removed!
  • Property that has been vacant for more than 60 days — coverage may be reduced or dropped
  • Trampolines — have to come down!
  • Unfenced pools — need to be fenced in!
  • A new dog — check to see if the breed is ok. Some of the ineligible breeds are Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweillers, Doberman Pinschers, Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Mastifs, German Shepards, Chows, and Akitas. There are other breeds that individual companies do not like as well.
  • A second home that is being rented out.
  • A home business — it may not be covered on your existing policy.
  • A home day care.
  • No central heating system.
  • Roofs, or electrical/plumbing/heating systems that have not been updated in the past 25 years.

In some cases we can find alternative markets for these situations at around two to three times the cost of what you are paying now. And in some cases, it may be impossible to insure your situation.

In the case of home insurance, there is no mandate that insurance has to be provided. If you have any of these items, please call us. We can come out and look at the property and give you advice on how to handle the problem and help work out a solution. Depending on what the situation is, you might not have the coverage you thought you had or, worse, your company may cancel your policy.
